{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge #35 - Linky Party Day 8

Back with my second card for the July Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Sketch and the last day of the Christmas in July Linky Party.

Knowing I would use the die I picked up from Craft Fancy, a scrapbook store in Illinois, for my focal point, it worked better to flip the sketch.  The font and size of the sentiment from the Merry Christmas die is so versatile I could immediately think of lots of things to make with it.  (Thank you, Jennifer McGuire!!)

I cut the die once from white paper and a second time from some Tim Holtz holiday paper from my stash.  I used distress inks to blend the reds for the sentiment and greens for the leaves and inlaid them on the black print background. The panel is mounted on green. I found the scrap of plaid for the bottom strip.  The sequins are double mounted - clear on the bottom with gold on top.  One of the many Echo Park Christmas papers I have in my collection was the natural choice for the base.  The pattern was small enough that the red flowers were visible all around the center panel.

July's sketch would make a great spring board for adding a card to the July Linky Party. You have until midnight to add a card to the Linky Party gallery.  I'm looking forward to seeing today's entries!  Thanks for stopping by my blog.

{BYSHC} Christmas in July Linky Party - Day 6

 Hi All,

Back on my blog with a card for Day 6 of the Christmas in July Linky Party.  I pulled out some "must have" purchases from last Christmas season were use for this first time this week!

This one features a stamp from sponsor CCC called Snow Globe Bear. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the bear, penguins and snow globe.  The elements are stamped on to heavyweight card stock and given a faux watercolor look with Distress inks.  The background is one more piece of paper I made stretching the Make A Wish stamp set from The Greetery.  I splattered a little bit of red ink, added a scrap of red striped paper, used a sentiment from Pinkfresh studio, and finally popped on some jewels and sequins to finish off the card.

The Linky Party runs through July 28th at midnight CST.  You still have time to add your card to the {BYSHC} gallery! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

{BYSHC} Blog Christmas in July Linky Party - Day 3

It's Day 3 of the {BYSHC} Blog's Christmas in July Linky Party and my card for today started with this gorgeous background paper. I was able to cut it so the cardinals make a visual triangle for the card base.

All I had to do was bring in some more patterned paper and add the two deer die cuts from PTI's Deer to Me die set (their bodies are textured).  I stamped their antlers and a little greenery that I placed behind the deer in the foreground. (Both the Deer to Me stamp and die sets are on sale at PTI.) Three Spellbinders Peach Opalescent sequins and one of the Simple Sentiments in Reverse- Christmas from Linky Party sponsor, Taylored Expressions finished off the card.

I hope you are inspired to make time and join the Linky Party
on the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Blog.

It's simple- make a holiday card and link it up in the gallery.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

{BYSHC} Christmas in July Linky Party - Day 2

 Hello Friends!

I hope you are popping into my blog to take a closer look at the card I have for Day 2 of the {BSHC} Blog's Christmas in July Linky Party.  I am really excited about this card.  It came about from trying to think creatively about the stamps in my collection.  The background is made from some stamps in The Greetery's Make A Wish Stamp Set. I started out making some birthday cards and then flexed my creative muscle using a variety of stamps for this Christmas card.

The striped part is made using 2 of the candle stamps with the polka dot candle embellishment in between.  The side panel uses a variety of the sparkle stamps in the set.

The Snow Globe Stamp image is Woodware Crafts. It is heat embossed with TE Fine Detail Copper Embossing Powder from Linky Party sponsor, Taylored Expressions.  The sentiment is from TE, too.  It's called Simple Sentiments in Reverse - Christmas.  I reach for these all of the time! (It doesn't look like they are available in the TE store though, so I found another link.)

I hope you are able to play along with our Linky Party.  It's simple - make a winter themed holiday card and Link it up in the gallery on the {BYSHC} Blog.  I always love seeing people's entries!  You just might win, too! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

{BYSHC} Christmas in July Linky Party - Day 1!

Hello Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmaker Friends!!

Today is the first day of this year's Christmas in July Linky Party.  It's a week-long event dedicated to making winter holiday cards WITH prizes!  You can find the details and a list of all the sponsors on the {BYSH} Cardmakers Blog.

My first card for the Party uses products from two of our sponsors.  The trees and sentiment are from a Unity Stamp set called Feliz Navidad. The background is Taylored Expressions Holly Embossing Folder using TE's Foil Cardstock in Rose Gold.  I then took a nail file and roughed it up!  Since the core is white, you can see the pattern and variation.  I wanted to keep things pretty simple to make sure the embossed panel gets attention, so two of the trees are just stamped. I added a light watercolor wash to the floral tree in Bundled Sage and Victorian Velvet.  The trees are fussy cut and the center tree and sentiment are mounted on foam. Distress Oxide Pumice Stone ink (used for stamping the trees and sentiment) mirrored the silver foil border stripe.   A few clear sequins are added for some sparkle.  I am super pleased with how this turned out!

I hope you are able to join in the fun this week.  It's such a great ideas to get a head start on holidays cards!  Prizes make it all the more motivating to play along!  I can't wait to see your makes!  Thanks for stopping by my blog.

{BYSHC} July Sketch #35

Back on my blog with my first card for Sketch #35 for the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers.  Another fun sketch to inspire getting ahead on holiday card making.

My card started with a new-to-me Catherine Pooler cover plate die called Belly Laughs.  I love the word art and know I will reach for it again, and again!

In this card, I used a portion of the die cut and mounted it on red patterned cardstock.  I added a one of my Woodland Reindeer Deco Foil Adhesive Transfer (foiled in gold), a Simple Sentiments in Reverse - Christmas from Taylored Expressions and finished with two Spellbinders Color Essentials sequins.  Love the soft gold of this Peach Opalescent color and smooth centers of these sequins!

I hope you will play along with us this month.  Upload you card to the album in our FB group for a chance to win a prize.  If you need more motivation to work on your holiday cards, the BYSCH Christmas in July Linky Party is coming up starting July 21st.  The list of sponsors and prizes  is fabulous!  Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Let's Craft & Create Challenge #197 - Add Flowers

It's the fifth day of the month and that means time for a new challenge on the Let's Craft & Create Blog.  This month's optional challenge theme is "Add Flowers" so I thoroughly embraced it!

I started with Takes the Cake Stamp & Stencil from The Greetery.  When I saw it during their May release, I knew it would become part of my collection!  I love the layered stencil flowers that are part of this set!  I did limit my purchase, thinking I could fussy cut the cake rather than buy the die!  It hasn't been too bad!  (Of course - that decision gave me permission to buy another stamp from the release!!). The floral background is a 3D embossing folder from Spellbinders called Four Petal Flower.  In addition to the flowers that are part of the cake, I finished the card off with variety of die cut flowers - some are from a Spellbinders die and others are from Taylored Expressions.

The "happy birthday" banner is a die from The Greetery.  You may notice a little heart between the words happy and birthday.  It says "half" because I forgot my SIL's real birthday and decided I would make it up by sending her a "half-ty" birthday card!! I am crazy about how this card came out.  I hope you can play along with our challenge.  Thanks for stopping by my blog.
