{ BYSHC} - Sketch #33

This is my second card for May using Sketch #33 for the {BYSHC} Cardmakers Blog.

The main image is called Snow Globe Stamp from Woodware Craft Collection.  I stamped and heat embossed the image with white embossing powder on watercolor paper.  I colored it using Distress Inks.  The image is mounted in red and the paper in the panel behind it is die cut with Unity Stamps', Postage Stamp Nesting Dies.  The sentiment is part of the stamp set, and the greenery is Pine Needle Trio from Memory Box.  I added some embellishments from my stash to keep the red color moving around the card.

I hope you have time to play along with the Sketch Challenge this month.  Just link up your card using this month's sketch in Album #33 in the {BYSHC} FB Group.

Let's Craft & Create Challenge #195 - Ribbon, Lace, Twine

It's time for Challenge #195 on the Let's Craft & Create Blog.  This month's optional theme is to use ribbon, lace, twine or all three on your card.  I headed for my sadly-neglected ribbon stash and pulled out a beautiful magenta color that went well with the inked flowers. on my mini-slimline card.

The card background is a Taylored Expressions layering stencil that was a "free with purchase" gift a few months ago.  When I received the stencil, I played around with it using colored cardstock.  It's a 6" stencil, so cutting it in half makes it perfect for two mini-slimline cards!  I inlaid the flower and stitched circle die and inked the flower and leaves.  It's splattered with a variety of inks and then layered on white and a pink card base. The sentiment is from TE's Foil It- Sentiment Staples  and then die cut with Sentiment Staples Dies.  I love this combination because I can foil sentiments with my Deco Foil and Mini-Minc and then die cut them.  I added some embellishments to finish off the card.  This layering stencil is super-versatile.  Take a peek at a sympathy card I made with a different color combination I made for an IG Hop.

I hope you have a chance to play along with the Let's Craft & Create Challenge this month.  Thanks for stopping by my blog.

{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge #33 - May

I hope you had a chance to play along with the BYSHC Spring Into Christmas Linky Party last week.  I appreciate the motivation to start making Christmas cards throughout the year and the three Linky Parties always give me a jump start.  There are always generous sponsors - and that means prizes for folks who play along.  July will be our next week-long Linky Party, so keep your Christmas supplies close!

Now that it's May 1st, we are back to our monthly BYSHC Sketch Challenge.  Here is the sketch Crystal has for us to play with in May.

I pulled out Gifting Girl, a digital stamp from Angie Blom Designs for my card.  Angie is one of our regular Linky party sponsors.  In addition to her digital shop, you may recognize her as an artist for Unity Stamps, too.  I pulled out my Copics for this sweetie.

I thought I would fussy cut the present part of the image and pop it out on foam for the smaller rectangle in the sketch.  I created a little more contrast by gluing it to black paper and then cutting it a second time.  I love the shadowed look!

I used vellum with gold heat embossing and MFT's Lined By Hand Background stamp for the 1" strip and finished with three Ombre Sparkle & Shine Glitter Drops from Pinkfresh Studio.

Now it's your turn!  Use the sketch and share your creation in the Sketch #33 Album.  There is always a prize winner at the end of the month! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
In kindness, Cathy
