{BYSHC} Christmas in July Linky Party - Final Day

The last day of the {BYSHC} Linky Party has finally arrived!

My card features a stamp and die set from sponsor, Colorado Craft Company.  It's from Anita Jeram and called Gingerbread House slimline .  The die set has all of the little pieces from the house, so they can pop out and give it dimension. I used it on some of the candies, the door, the roof pieces, and the mice.  It's colored with Copics and then the house face has a splatter stamp in darker brown. The background paper is Vicki Boutin's Warm Wishes and cut with Reverse Confetti's Postage Stamp Cover Plate.

This was one of those cards that I kept adding to as I went, so I grabbed my roll of Snug Hug Seam Binding ribbon for a bow, added a white sparkle paper oval behind the gingerbread house, pulled out my Tim Holtz Rock Candy glitter and added a variety of bling around the card.

Even though the {BYSHC} Linky Party closes tonight at 11:59 pm PDT, you have more than 12 hours to enter!! The prizes and sponsors are fabulous!  Thanks for stopping by my blog.

BYSHC Christmas in July Linky Party - Day 5

We are at the half-way point of the BYSHC Christmas in July Linky Party!  Four more days to load your Christmas creations into the gallery for a chance at the prize drawings.  Did you see there is also a random drawing with a prize for one lucky person who leaves comments and another one for a hashtag user?  The hashtag is #christmasinjuly2022byshclp

Today's card uses some new purchases - a cute Holiday Snowglobe stamp from Stamping Bella and a 12x12 Frosted Floral from Echo Park Paper's Winter collection.  I wanted some help when it came to my card, so I went into the BYSHC album to look at the sketches.  Sketch #17 from last winter was perfect!  I love using sketches as a framework and Crystal's sketches always deliver!! The big, bold graphic of the patterned paper helped make the image shine and anchored it with non-traditional Christmas colors.  Some TE Drip Drops, another one of her Sentiments in Reverse- Christmas strips (the best $4.50 I have spent in a long time), Distress Rock Candy Glitter and some gold foiling on MFT's Lined By Hand stamp finish off the card.

Remember to add your card to the BYSHC Linky Party! You have time to make more than one before the festivities close on Friday night!  Hope you are building up your stash of holiday cards along with us!  I know it will make the holidays easier for me this year - plus I might get my cards in the mail before December 20th!!  Thanks for stopping by my blog.                                     In kindness, Cathy

BYSHC Christmas in July Linky Party - Day 4

It's Day 4 of the BYSHC Linky party.  My card features this month's sketch.  The stamp is a retired red rubber stamp in my stash from Purple Onion Designs and colored with Copics. I combined it with some papers, die cuts and sequins.  The sentiment is one of the Simple Strips in Reverse - Christmas from Taylored Expressions.  PTI's Melissa Phillips gave me the idea for the whitewashed corrugated cardboard from her card here. I love the way it added texture to the card.

I hope you are having fun with our Christmas in July Party and posting your cards in the gallery on the BYSHC blog!  Thanks for stopping by my blog.              In kindness, Cathy

BYSHC Christmas in July Linky Party - Day 3

I have another simple card for Day 3 of the BYSHC Linky Party - mainly some papers, die cuts (from retired dies), and embellishments.

The sprigs are MFT's Mistletoe Kisses die.  I pulled out my watercolors and randomly added some greens on the watercolor paper, then die cut the sprigs and dipped them in Distress Rock Candy Glitter.  The other component is Pinkfresh Studios Pretty Frames 1 Die.  I inked up the shape behind the mistletoe sprigs with Candy Apple Distress Oxide and splattered it.  The narrow white frame is mounted with 1/8" foam strips and the Elizabeth Craft Designs sentiment from her Noel stamp set is foiled in red.  A few sequins and a bow finish off the card.

It has been fun to see all of the cards folks are entering in the Linky Party on the BYSHC Blog.  It runs through the July 29th, so there is still plenty of time to tap into your Christmas mojo!!  Remember to use #christmasinjuly2022byshclp on all of your social media posts.  One lucky hashtag winner will be chosen for a prize.  Thanks for stopping by my blog.                                                                                                  In kindness, Cathy

BYSHC Christmas in July Linky Party - Day 2

Back on Day 2 of the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Christmas in July Linky Party.

This card features a new image from sponsor Angie Blom Digital Designs, called Blessings Poinsettia.  I loved challenging my skills coloring the jar from this image with my Copics, After seeing what Angie did with the same image, I am going to have another try using Distress Oxide inks on kraft paper!  Click the link and look for the partial jar on kraft to see what I mean.  Amazing!   The image is on sale right now for 35% off.

The card base is Taylored Expressions Foil It Gathered Greenery  using red foil.  The white panel features TE's Diagonal Stitch Rectangle Stacklets and her Drip Drops as accents.   The sentiment is Reverse Confetti's Sparkle and Shine Sentiments. I added some Distress Rock Candy Glitter on the white berries.

I hope you are able to make some time to play along with us this week.  It's a great time to get a start on your Christmas cards!!  Link your card on the BYSHC Blog and share your creation in the BYSHC FB Group and on social media using the hashtag: #christmasinjuly2022byshclp

BYSHC - Christmas in July Linky Party! - Day 1

Today is Day 1 of the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Christmas in July Linky Party!

It's a great time to build up your stash of hoilday cards with the bonus of a week of fun and prizes!!

More details about the linky party, sponsors, and prizes on the BYSHC Blog.

In addition to this special July event, you can always work on our monthly sketches and add them to the album in BYSHC FB Group

I kept my first card on the simple-side - mainly featuring die cuts and my latest obsession with foiling!

The base is a red-foiled Seasonal Sprig Foil It mini-slim size toner card front from Taylored Expressions.  The same red foil is used on cardstock to die cut the Kaiser Craft sentiment from the Hanging Script Bauble set. I love how the red patterned paper with the smaller of Pinkfresh's Mini Slimline Frames die set looks with the background.

Here's another shot from the side so you can see a bit of the shine from the foil.

Memory Box's Pine Needle Trio dies supplied the perfect pop of green for the card.  I just randomly put greens on a piece of watercolor paper and then die cut them.  The variation works well for layering.

I hope you can play along with us over the next week.  Post your cards on the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers Blog and share your creations on social media using the hashtag:   #christmasinjuly2022byshclp

Crystal has 18 sponsors lined up - which is incredible. My blog is one of the sponsors.

Orchid Sympathy

Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card and worked on this one over the weekend.  It's a combination of a new-to-me Altenew stamp and products from my stash.  The stamp is Oriental Orchid, a layering stamp set from Altenew.  I bought it used because I don't have any other flowers like this in my collection.

To create the look I wanted, I had to search my stash for a pot or container and used PTI's Vase Collection 7 Mini stamp set with Speckled Egg and Broken China Distress inks.  I decided to heat emboss the flowers so I could keep them white and watercolored them with Spun Sugar, Pickled Raspberry, and Twisted Citron.  I didn't use all four steps of the layering stamps - and had to remember "let the water do the work". I came in with the last step and Picked Raspberry when the paper was still damp so the color would be vibrant, but the water still pulled the ink.  The yellow centers are done with Prismacolor pencils after the flowers were dried. The leaves are a combination of Peeled Paint, Crushed Olive, and Rustic Wilderness.  I needed to bend the stem to give it the angle you see here and all of the elements of the flowers, leaves, bucket and stem are fussy cut and layered together.  The flowers are popped out on foam squares and the leaves, vase, stem, and buds are glued right onto the background.

I have been playing with foiling lately, so I got out my laminator and heat embossed my MFT's  Lined By Hand  background stamp and then foiled over the top.  It is hard to see in the photo, but only parts of the lines picked up the foiling.  I ended up ink blending the edges and actually love the look.  The sentiment is an old red rubber stamp from Verve - which I foiled as well. Pinkfresh Studio's Essential Blanket Stitch Slimline Die Set (mini slimline die).

I love how this card turned out, even though it took a lot of "playing around" and time to think/plan for me! I have enough leftover flowers and leaves to make another card - which is a side benefit from being willing to "play around." Thanks for stopping by my blog.                                                                   In kindness, Cathy
